About
My name is Elijah, some call me Eli.
I’ve been known to take photos and to make films. I received a B.S. in Electronic Media and Film from Towson University in 2010. I promptly entered engineering support at Stanley Black & Decker, where I performed a variety of reliability tests on prototype and competitor power tools.
While working at Stanley Black & Decker I also took on Brazilian Jiu-jitsu as a hobby. I practiced actively for 5 years, less so these days. I started at Team Maryland BJJ (Relson Gracie affiliate) in Towson, north of Baltimore Maryland, owned by Stuart Ramos and Nick Tissue, at the time. I received my purple belt under Stuart Ramos and Relson Gracie and moved on to help Nick Tissue found Baltimore Grace Jiu-Jitsu. In assisting Nick, I learned how to teach martial arts with a systematic method that could easily be carried to children’s program. This was a great experience, but the cost of time and health burnt me out quickly.
At the end of 2016, I moved to Vietnam to be with my partner and further that relationship, while also aimlessly starting a new life. In that time, I learned a lot about myself and relationships, I traveled South East Asia and Vietnam, and I learned to live smaller. My working life suffered in my aimlessness, but I learned how to be a better maker, I taught myself 3d modeling in Fusion360, I helped others in their projects as selflessly as possible. This was a time of diverse experiences with interesting people, that was difficult, complicated, and rewarding.
In the summer of 2021, I moved back to the US.
